Remarks: Fairy moss, also known as mosquito fern, is a fascinating species of floating plant native to the Western United States where it can be found in areas of stagnant water. It grows in a manner similar to duckweed where smaller parts of the plant will break off as it grows to become a new plant. Fairy moss is typically a vibrant green, but certain conditions such as high quality light and low nitrate levels can result in it turning a beautiful pink or red color. To remain healthy within the aquarium, this plant shouldn't be kept in areas of high flow and should be provided with medium to high light. As long as these conditions are met, this small, floating plant can be a great addition to both small and large aquariums or ponds.
