Remarks: Christmas moss is the second most popular aquatic moss in the hobby, only being surpassed by the classic java moss. Unlike the more stringy java moss, Christmas moss has more "branches" giving it a sort of fern shape that is far more bushy and full. This beautiful growth pattern is why it likely would be the most used moss in the hobby if it weren't for it being slightly less hardy and slower growing than java moss. The wait and closer attention to parameters is certainly worth it as it is a great addition to many aquascapes when allowed to grow attached to structures such as decor, wood, or rocks. While it grows best when attached to structures like other mosses, some have found they can get it to grow in like a carpet on gravel substrates if planted in small tufts under high light.
