El Silverado Endler
Size

Remarks: The El Silverado endler is a unique and highly sought after type of endler known from the areas around the city of Cumaná in Venezuela. They stand out with their metallic, silver bodies that are accented by vibrant green and reds. Black spots are also occasionally present. Many like to keep these pure endlers as they are, but many have also found them to be a great way to create new hybrid strains with unique traits. We encourage keepers to keep them pure by not housing them with guppies or other endler types to preserve the line.

Endlers are a species of livebearer closely related to, and are commonly hybridized with, guppies. They were discovered in 1975 by John Endler in Venezuela where they are now either critically endangered or totally extinct. Some pure strains of endlers exist in captivity, usually described as N class to indicate as such, but most lines are hybrids.

These fish are almost exactly like guppies in regards to their care in that they are very peaceful and easy to care for. They also do best when kept in a ratio of two females for every male as the males may harass the females to death if there aren't enough to spread his attention. Another option is to keep all males or all females.
