Remarks: The dolphin manda is an uncommon mbuna that is also known as the giant demasoni. This is due to the fact that this species looks very similar to the smaller demasoni mbuna with the same black and blue striped pattern with yellow egg spots on the males. The dolphin manda is a rather large mbuna, with males commonly topping out at 6" long, but have a surprisingly peaceful disposition for an mbuna. This makes them one of the few that can do well with peacock cichlids, even in the presence of females. Provide these fish with plenty of room to swim along with an herbivorous diet and they will make an excellent addition to a more peaceful Lake Malawi community tank.
